Tennessee’s Economic and Community Development Department announced yesterday that gunmaker Smith & Wesson is moving its headquarters from Massachusetts to Tennessee. Smith and Wesson will bring 750 jobs to Maryville in East Tennessee.
The gunmaker said unfavorable gun laws and pending adverse gun legislation made the decision for the move. They’ll invest about $125 million here.
It’s not the first time a gun company moved from the northeast to Tennessee. In 2016 Beretta, known for its high-end sporting shotguns and semi-automatic pistols, moved from Maryland to Tennessee, also because of the political climate.
