Trout, Crappie React Well to Wintry Conditions!

In the photo above, Dale Clark landed this beautiful, hefty rainbow trout while fishing the Spring River in north Arkansas recently with guide Mark Crawford. Crawford says the Spring has been on the rise with recent rainfall, pushing water level above average, with flow just slightly above the normal 350 cfs at the river’s spring. “It’s a great time to chase bigger fish,” he says. “Woolies and big nymphs have been doing well most days, with Y2Ks being a good backup plan.” Crawford adds that there has been more dry fly action lately, especially with clear water. Also, spin-fishermen will fine it a prime time for walleye, especially on overcast, cold, dreary days that only the dead of winter can provide, he said. Bring along a rattling Rogue for the walleye.

Meanwhile, there are several great reports on crappie, ranging from good to EXCELLENT. Check out this week’s report online at agfc.com.
