From MDWFP
Spring Lake at Wall Doxey State Park in Holly Springs has been refilled. A winter drawdown was conducted for aquatic vegetation control, and for Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) staff to construct a new boat ramp courtesy pier and extend the boat ramp. Construction was delayed by winter weather, however the hard freeze was welcomed by fisheries biologists as it reduced levels of aquatic plants that were exposed to the cold temperatures.
The boat ramp has reopened to the public. MDWFP plans to stock additional triploid grass carp for vegetation control in 2021. Aquatic plants will continue to be monitored and treated in high use areas as needed.
