The AGFC’s Trout Management Program reminds anglers that the Bull Shoals Catch-and-Release Area (on the White River, directly below Bull Shoals Dam, in photo below) was closed to fishing on Monday, Nov. 1, and will remain closed through Jan. 31, 2022.
Each year, the area is closed to fishing during that time to protect spawning fish.
Also, the seasonal catch-and-release area, which extends from the wing dike at the Bull Shoals/White River State Park to the bottom of the state park, also took effect on Sunday and will remain in effect until Jan. 31, 2022. In the seasonal catch-and-release area, only artificial lures or flies with barbless hooking points may be used, all brown trout must be released immediately, and there is no fishing from 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise.
