WYNNE – Join the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for a day filled with outdoor excitement for all ages at the Wynne Sports Complex Pond, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
As part of its grand opening into the AGFC’s Family and Community Fishing Program, the pond will be stocked with catchable-size catfish that are ready to bite and free for the taking. But this is much more than a fishing opportunity. The City of Wynne Parks and Recreation Director Zack Morris has partnered with local businesses to provide hot dogs and bottled water to the first 100 kids who arrive. Music and prize drawing also will be available for people who attend.
Fishing Event at Wynne Flyer “We’re excited to help Arkansans get back to enjoying outdoor events, and this is a great way to kick things off,” Maurice Jackson, FCFP coordinator for the AGFC, said. “The City of Wynne has worked hard to bring regular fish stockings to their complex, and we hope this event shines a light on the opportunity for youth as well as older anglers.”
There is no age limit to participate in the fishing event, but anglers 16 and older must have a valid Arkansas fishing license. Participants should bring their own fishing gear, bait and a comfortable chair to sit on, as well as a cooler or stringer to take home their catch. Registration is required.
